Why this label
The exclusion was real when announcedS2. On 23 March 2023 Civil Service World reported that the minister had lifted it for Bain's non-South African affiliates after less than eight months, subject to at least two years of close monitoringS1. The same report said Bain & Co South Africa stayed excluded until 4 January 2025S1. That date has passed. In January 2025 the UK government declined a call to reinstate the ban, saying it had legal advice that it could not extend itS7. Bain's page says it began a judicial review of the decisionS2. We found no record of a ruling on that review. It appears to have been overtaken by the lifting of the ban, but that is not confirmed.
Current procedural position
Exclusion imposed in August 2022S2. Lifted for non-South African affiliates on 23 March 2023S1. Exclusion of the South African unit ran until 4 January 2025S1. Reinstatement declined in January 2025S7. Outcome of Bain's judicial review not found.
